Teaching a child to blow bubbles may not be in their best interest.
Try it for yourself. Go underwater and exhale out all of your air. Feel what happens to your body….you sink. Then go underwater and hold your breath – you have buoyancy and will rise to the surface.
We teach children to hold their breath. If they feel the insecurity of a fall into the water, they are taught to hold their breath and open their eyes to see where they are. They have the buoyancy to return to the surface. By holding their breath, they have the time to problem solve and the skills to find their way back to safety.
